In view of Lucknow being the capital of the state and more urban population, the need to implement a smart and integrated system for crime control, maintenance of law and order, public interest and especially for women safety in Lucknow. In the Police Commissionerate system, the magisterial powers are vested in the police, such as the implementation of Section-144, lathi charge in the event of a nuisance by chaotic elements, IPS officers of the rank of Additional Director General of Police (ADG) to take decisions on sensitive subject such as police firing etc. Empowered expeditious action can be executed by posting as Commissioner. In view of the safety of women, two IPS women officers will be particularly beneficial in cases related to crime against women. In the commissionerate system, the Commissioner of Police (CP) heads the integrated police command structure, and accountable to the state government. The commissioner also has magisterial powers, such as regulation, general control and licensing, etc. .
